چکیده

A sample of venous blood was taken from each subject. Some of this (5 ml) was mixed with fresh 3 * 8% sodium citrate, 9 : 1 volumes blood to citrate, spun immediately at 3,000 r.p.m. for 10 minutes in a MSE centrifuge and the plasma was separated and deep frozen immediately. Two millilitres of blood were mixed with 20J1 of Trasylol and allowed to clot overnight, and then the serum was separated and deep frozen.

Clotting time analysis of citrated blood samples is strongly affected by the tube used for blood sampling.

Our aim was to establish whether differences in clotting times for recalcified blood and plasma samples might be explained by the use of different blood collection tubes. Samples obtained from different plastic vacuum tubes were recalcified and clotting times determined by free oscillation rheometry. The clotting times for blood collected in Vacutainer (Becton Dickinson, Rutherford, New Jersey,...

A Classic View of Blood Coagulation

• High on the list of pathologic processes which impede the circulation with serious and often lethal consequences are thrombosis and its sequelae. Although the pathogenesis of thrombosis can vary in different situations, a major component of the usual thrombus is fibrin, the protein meshwork of blood clots. This review focuses on some of the newer information concerning the clotting process an...

Effects of inhibition of P2Y(1) and P2Y(12) on whole blood clotting, coagulum elasticity and fibrinolysis resistance studied with free oscillation rheometry.

INTRODUCTION In vivo, initial platelet activation is likely caused by platelet contacts with collagen in the subendothelium or from the small amounts of thrombin formed by the tissue factor/factor VIIa complex. Our aim was to study the coagulative role of ADP released by the platelets after activation with strong stimuli such as collagen and/or thrombin, and the relative importance of the plate...

Coagulation and Fibrinolysis in Patients with Idiopathic Hyperlipemia and Primary Hypercholesteremia before and after a Fatty Meal

In view of the current interest in the possible relationship between elevated serum lipid levels, increased coagulability of the blood (or decreased blood fibrinolysis) and ischemic heart disease, the clotting and fibrinolytic activity of the blood were studied before and after a fatty meal in 9 patients with idiopathic hyperlipemia, 10 patients with primary hypercholesteremia, and 10 normal su...

Co-ordinated spatial propagation of blood plasma clotting and fibrinolytic fronts

Fibrinolysis is a cascade of proteolytic reactions occurring in blood and soft tissues, which functions to disintegrate fibrin clots when they are no more needed. In order to elucidate its regulation in space and time, fibrinolysis was investigated using an in vitro reaction-diffusion experimental model of blood clot formation and dissolution. Clotting was activated by a surface with immobilize...
